Perioperative Support Tech

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator/Director of Surgical Services, is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Surgical Suite.

Responsibilities

1 Applies the principles of standard precautions and personal safety into daily practice
2 Acts as a role model for new employees to demonstrate and explain the proper method for cleaning the Surgical Suite including the Sterile Processing Department per
infection control standards
3 Anticipates and prioritizes cleaning needs to facilitate turnaround times of the O.R. schedule.
4 Maintains a neat and organized work environment
5 Completes and documents as scheduled the daily, alternate day, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly and annual duties as listed in "Operating Room Housekeeping Duties"
6 Identifies where equipment and supplies are stored in the Surgical Suite
7 Assists in setting up the Operating Rooms with the appropriate supplies and equipment prior to the procedure and returning equipment to proper storage areas after the procedure
8 Assists in maintaining a professional and quiet atmosphere in the O.R.
9 Seeks assistance from colleagues and supervisory personnel when he/she has questions and/or concerns in regards to procedures or equipment
10 Under the direction of a registered nurse, assists the Surgical Team by assisting with positioning and transferring the patient
11 May have to lift more than 25 pounds
12 Completes urgent and necessary errands to support the surgical team
13 Maintains par levels for laundry and scrub suits
